SOFTWASHING & PRESSURE WASHING

Effective Residential and Commercial Exterior Cleaning Solutions

While both effective when used in the proper application, there are several key differences between Softwashing and Pressure Washing which make them better suited for cleaning different aspects of the exterior of your home or business.

WHAT IS SOFTWASHING?

Low-Pressure, Low Impact

Softwashing is a low-pressure cleaning method using water and eco-friendly, non-damaging cleaning solutions to safely treat and remove mildew, algae, bacteria, and other organic stains from exterior surfaces that would ordinarily be damaged by higher-pressure methods.

Because the method is more gentle, Softwashing is the preferred technique for roofs, cedar shakes, wood panel siding, stucco, brick, outdoor wood furniture, screens, decorative fencing, and vinyl siding, all of which can be damaged by a higher-pressure spray.

WHAT IS PRESSURE WASHING?

High-Pressure for Hard Surfaces

Pressure Washing is a cleaning method using a high-pressure spray of water from a wand or a surface cleaner to forcibly dislodge dirt, organic stains, and sometimes paint from more durable building materials and concrete surfaces.

It is a particularly effective technique for cleaning driveways, sidewalks, pool decks, retaining walls, and the inside of gutters. It is not recommended for roofs, siding, or other materials unable to handle being struck by water at such a high pressure without being damaged.

SOFTWASHING VS. PRESSURE WASHING

What is the Difference?

Unlike Pressure Washing, which uses a high-pressure spray of water to blast dirt, debris, etc., off exterior surfaces, Softwashing uses a mixture of cleaning solutions that are sprayed onto the surface being treated.

Depending on the degree of stain or dirt being removed, the cleaning solution should be allowed to sit (or “dwell”) for about 15-20 minutes.  After the cleaning solution has done its work, the broken-down organic stains and dirt particles are rinsed away with a low-pressure spray of water.
